Bishop: A piece that can move diagonally. Two bishops per different color army. Worth 3 points.
Capture: When a piece takes another.
Castle: When the king moves two places and the rook jumps on top of him. Can only be performed when the king is not in check and both pieces have not moved yet.
Check: When the king is being threatened but can escape.
Checkmate: When the king is being threatened and can’t escape.
Double Attack: When a piece threatens two pieces at once.
Draw: Both armies can not win, no matter what. Typically where both sides only have the king.
Fork: A piece, typically horse, attacking multiple pieces in the same time.
Horse: A piece that can move an any L shape. It can jump over other pieces and there are 2 of these per different color army. Worth 3 points.
King: The piece you need to protect, and you need to checkmate this opponent’s king. Worth ∞ points. Most important piece.
Pawn: A piece that can move up one spot per turn but on its first, it can go up two. It captures diagonally forward by one spot and if it makes it to the other side of the board, it can transform to another valuable piece, like the queen. 8 pieces per army. It’s worth 1 point.
Pin: An invaluable piece that if moves, a more valuable piece is lost.
Queen: A piece that can move up, down, and diagonally. Worth 9 points. 1 piece per army.
Rook: A piece that can move up or down. It is worth 5 points.
Skewer: A valuable piece that if moves, piece behind is lost.
Stalemate: A situation where the king is not in checkmate but has no options of where to move because anywhere it moves, it will be captured. The king is not in danger but can not move anywhere.
