Poison dart frogs are poisonous amphibians that live in rainforests. They are bright and colorful to show(and warn predators) this. The fatal poison in this frog can kill approximately 10 full-grown adults! They like to eat insects, such as tiny ants. These frogs catch their food by searching for an insect and sticking out their sticky tongues quickly. The average healthy wild poison dart frog will weigh about 28 grams, or 1 ounce. Female frogs lay eggs on the forest floor(a layer in the rainforest) enclosed with a jellylike substance. When the eggs hatch, a frog will let the newborn frog climb onto its back where the adult frog will take the babies to a small hole of water which the newborns grow in. A frog is likely to live 3-15 years once hatched. Fun fact: The Golden Poison Frog, the most poisonous type of poison dart frog, has enough poison to kill 20, 000 (twenty thousand) mice!
