Humans, according to some humans, are smart. They can recognize themselves in front of a mirror, invent and/or build many different things, and more. But a lot of people focus only on their own lives. What about other animals? How will they live? Maybe a certain type of animal is thriving and living a nice life, but others are not. Why? One reason could be that there are too many predators. Then why are there too many? A common reason is that humans are causing this harm. (For example, if humans like to eat an animal called Prey, and the animal Predator also wants to eat Prey, then humans would overhunt Preys, making it endangered and Predator would also not get to hunt enough Preys to feed itself.) Below is a list of environmental threats with details.
- Climate Change (this also includes global warming and air pollution)
Climate change is when the average weather changes greatly. One of these major cases in climate change is global warming. This is when the whole world gets hotter. Greenhouse gases contribute to this issue. Normally, the sun’s rays go into Earth’s atmosphere. A lot of them bounce around the atmosphere. Few of them bounce out of the atmosphere. Earth then won’t receive full heat from the sun, making it slightly cool so animals feel comfortable. However, greenhouse gases stay in the atmosphere. It is trapped there. It ventures all the way to the border and stays there. Therefore the atmosphere border thickens. The sun’s rays still go in the atmosphere, but now that the atmosphere is thickened, less rays can go out, so more rays will fall on Earth. The consequence to this is that animals will live in a hotter place. Big icebergs that polar bears, etc live on will melt. Some animals that are used to moist habitat who are not ready to migrate will be too hot. There are endless results to these dangers.
- Deforestation
Deforestation is when humans remove trees from a forest, usually to use to build houses, sell it, transport it, or just get plain land to build houses on or let cattle graze the empty fields. Although deforestation is only a danger in certain biomes, this threat is still very dangerous to many, because, for example, animals in the forest are also part of the food chain that has other animals. Many results can happen to deforestation, as mentioned above, and example is the food chain connection to all creatures(including us). Another example is loss of habitat. Many animals use the trees for homes, or at least use it for any such reason. Yet another consequence possibility is that everybody will lose a massive supply of fresh oxygen(air), including us(basically any dangers we do to nature, it always reflects back to us).
- Poaching
Poaching is when a hunter kills an animal and sells a part of it(for example, elephant tusks) for money. For instance, if a poacher named Poacher poaches a mother animal named Motheranimal, then the baby Babyanimal, the baby of Motheranimal, will not be able to feed, seek safety, and warm up itself. Poachers usually prefer to poach elephants for their tusks. We can see the ray of hope to stopping poaching, however. You can try to stop buying fancy items that you do not need or looks like it came from an animal(e.g. suspicious tiger-like cloth) and, if you are a store owner, try to stop making traps and weapons that could harm an animal.
