Materials needed:
- 1 sheet of paper
- pair of scissors
- roll of tape or glue stick (do not use liquid glue)
Steps:
- Fold the sheet of paper in two equal halves.
- Fold it in half again, in the same direction as before.
- Cut at the folded creases, making four long strips of paper.
- Attach one end of a strip onto another. Repeat.
- Attach the end of one long strip to its other end so there is a ring.
- Attach one end of the other strip on top of the outside part of the ring.
- Gently pull the other part of the long strip in the ring, and then lightly fold about one fifth of the end of the strip down. Attach the folded part of the strip onto the other side of the ring, this time at the inside.
- Using the scissors, punch a small hole in the paper ring.
- Cut along the length of the ring. There will be two rings and a S-like curve in between.
- Pass one ring through the other.
- Turn one ring inside out. You will have a handcuff shape.
- Cut the strip of paper between the two loops.
- Unfold and untangle the paper.
You now have a square, transformed from two rings!
*Some steps might be hard to follow, especially step 7. Read it again if you do not understand what it means. Then try it again, following the steps carefully. Pay attention to all details. Additionally, if you do not understand why something doesn’t match, you might have skipped a step’s detail or you need to look at the piece again and see what you are doing with it.*
