A Ted Review: In a Procrastinator’s Mind

There has been a video. I will be reviewing it:

Teller: I once had a homework assignment. I had to write a report and had a year worth time. I decided to do a bit on the first third of the year, a bit more on the second, and more on the third. I decided to rest it for the first third. Okay. Then I decided to rest it on the second after a third of a year had passed by. Then, I rested it on the 3rd third as well. I ended up doing it all in one night. The school called me. Oh no! They said, “Hey…” I was so scared!!! “This is wonderful!!!” Now, that did not happen.

Teller: Inside your mind, there is a Rational Decision Maker. He controls a steering wheel. If he wants to do work, he will. Unfortunately, there is a Monkey. The Rational Decision Maker might say, “Let’s get some work done.” The Monkey will grab the wheel and say, “No, we need to check the latest YouTube series and watch it all. Then we can play some video games so we’ll be experienced. Next, we can do a Jazz dance on a kitchen table so we will know how it feels like to be on a stage. Oops, no time to do work!” So then you will! There is also a Panic Monster. He will wake up when it’s nearly the deadline and scare the Monkey away. Then, the Rational Decision Maker can grab the wheel and finally get work done. For example, the Monkey can say, “Don’t get work done. Let’s go on Google Maps and look at India 200 cm above the ground so we can get the close touch of India.” One day before the deadline arrives, the Panic Monster wakes up.

Teller: Now let’s look at our year. Today, let’s see how we have pushed things aside. Well, maybe not today, well, tomorrow… Maybe soon…Or maybe a week later…
