Gourd is a type of fruit grown from flowering plants in the family Cucurbitaceae. Further in the family Cucurbitaceae, it is also in the sub families Cucurbita and Lagenaria. It is related to a number of different items, such as pumpkins, cucumbers, squash, and many types of melon.

Gourd is known to look like a large peanut or pear. They usually are light green or orange. Many say that this kind of fruit has a very hard shell. The gourds found in the Americas seem to have evolved from the the gourds of Asia a long time ago. However, some other studies show that the gourds in America evolved from Africa.
Gourd can be useful in many ways. They can be eaten and aren’t poisonous, but it is very hard to prepare most kinds of it. However, they do promote healthier digestion. Besides food supply, gourd can also be made into bottles, lanterns, birdhouses, spoons, and more. Most of the tools that gourd can create is made by hollowing its insides out. For example, two spoons can be made by slicing a hollowed-out gourd in half. Gourds’ shells are extremely hard to break, so gourd tools are hard to break as well.
