After 18 years of marriage, Justin Trudeau, prime minister of Canada and his past-wife Sophie Grégorie Trudeau have announced recently that they will seperate. “Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate,” Trudeau wrote in a message posted to Instagram. “As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build,” Trudeau and Grégoire Trudeau wrote in identical messages. “For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy.” As such, this means that although Justin and Sophie are going to separate, their children still belong to both of them. Grégoire Trudeau has moved to a new home in Ottawa and the prime minister will remain at his current home, Rideau Cottage. Grégoire Trudeau will also spend time at Rideau Cottage, where her children are expected to stay in the longest, and Sophie and Justin will share parenting responsibilities. “Marriage is difficult,” Trudeau had said years ago.
Justin is the famous prime minister and Sophie, his ex-wife, who is also famous, will both be widely known.
