“Is he the one?”A tiny voice asked.
“Yes,” A soft voice replied. “I told you, he is the one. Now be quiet.”. The team stared in the blinding light. Inside a boy’s bedroom, a child lay sleeping quietly under a pile of old-fashioned quilts. There was an old-fashioned lamp beside on a nightstand and a large paper-crafted homemade boat above the bed.
Archie Smith woke up to rays of sunlight resting on his face. He looked at the clock, which looked old because there was dust on it. It read, “9:39 AM”.”Well, I’ll be late for my baseball game, and then I can sleep some more,” Archie muttered grumpily. He groaned and stumbled out of bed to block the sunshine from entering his bedroom. He hauled two large boxes, each labelled “ARCHIE”, and shoved them. The curtains tore a bit but Archie didn’t notice. Then, Archie remembered that his mom would be super angry if he missed the game, so Archie sighed and grabbed his baseball bat, but he caught a glimpse of a dull object! The object was dark blue. Archie felt it. It was small and could fit into the palm of Archie’s small hand. Curious, the risk-taking boy opened the case slowly.
The blue case was filled with crumbly green pills. There was also a piece of paper resting on some pills. Archie picked the note up and read, “Archie, eat a pill a day and you will be lucky. The case will refill itself if you eat all of them.”. Archie Smith was tempted to eat a pill. He picked up a handful of the green stuff and gobbled half the pills in the case. Then, he closed the case and picked up his wooden baseball bat. The bedroom door closed with a long creak and then a click.
Archie remembered that his mom had taken his sister, Jean, to her early soccer game. He jogged to the baseball game and arrived just after the game started. However, his coach let Archie play some baseball. Apparently, he hadThe baseball soared through the cool morning air and flew to Archie. He lifted the bat above his head clumsily. Fortunately, the ball met with the bat and soared all the way to Archie’s desired place! He also, when missed the ball, won all of the home runs. Archie was his baseball team’s hero! When the game ended, Archie’s teammates cheered. Archie was in disbelief, but he ended up liking baseball.
Archie ate handfuls of pills every day. He got As for his spelling tests without studying, learned math quickly, and more! Archie’s classmates, friends, e.t.c got suspicious. They never knew such a smart Archie Smith and went jealous. A girl named Sally put sharp, muddy rocks in Archie’s ice cream cones. A boy named Johnny called Archie a “piece of space junk with a crown”. Archie learned that even the best things have results.
That night, Archie had a dream. He dreamed of a woman. The woman said in a soft voice, “Archie, I know that you are hated by many. I can change the pills to unlucky pills so you won’t be too lucky.”.
“Please, do so, please,” Archie begged. The woman smiled, and Archie woke up. He crept towards the case and opened it. His eyes looked at the pills. Now, the case was filled with red pills. In a flash, the poor boy ate 8 pills all at once. Archie walked to school. He arrived in time, but forgot his homework! His teacher was not accepting the excuse and called his parents on the phone. On Archie’s way home from school, he was nearly run over by a stinky truck.
When Archie was sleeping that night, he dreamed of the woman again. “Now, I can change the red pills back to the green ones, so you won’t be so unlucky,” She offered. Archie accepted the offer and woke up again. He ate only one pill and became his old self. Nobody was jealous of Archie anymore. Archie learned that anyone is best and happiest at their original self. He sealed the case tightly with glue and duct tape. Then, Archie put it in a small leather bag and sealed it with 12 9-number code locks. Finally, he used a shovel and buried it in his home’s backyard.
The boy was not surprised when he dreamed of the woman again. This time, the woman said, “Archie, you are one of the few who passed my test. You learned that your original self is the best and that everything has results. My team and I have secret high-tech light cameras. We have been observing you with them. Would you like to join us? We will make the world as happy as it could ever be.”
“Yes.” Archie replied.
So the team and Archie made the world a better place. They did so by doing what the woman had done to Archie to other people. A year later, the team had achieved their goal. The world was happy, healthy, and energetic. People treated others kindly. They were honest, too. Animals such as bears didn’t injure humans, and humans didn’t injure them. The whole universe was happy.
